Privacy Policy
Updated October 23, 2026
1Bible is designed for reading Scripture without advertising or an account. Your saved passages and reading settings stay on your device.
About this policy
This policy covers the 1Bible iPhone and iPad app and the 1Bible website, including its online reader. The native app and website have different storage and network behavior, described below.
The iPhone and iPad app
The Bible text is included in the app. Reading, text search, highlights, bookmarks, navigation history, and reading preferences are processed and stored locally. We do not operate an account system or a server that receives these reading records. The app does not include advertising or third-party analytics tracking.
Optional voice navigation
If you choose voice navigation, the app asks for microphone and speech-recognition permission. The current implementation uses local keyword models and Apple’s on-device speech recognition, and requires on-device recognition. It does not send microphone recordings or transcripts to a 1Bible server. Availability may depend on your device and installed system language resources. You can turn these permissions off in iOS or iPadOS Settings and continue reading without voice navigation.
Sharing, purchases, and Apple services
Copying a passage or creating a sharing card does not upload it to us. If you choose a recipient or another app in the system share sheet, that service handles what you choose to share under its own policy. App Store purchases and any device diagnostics you elect to share with Apple are handled by Apple. Device backups are controlled by your Apple settings; local app data may be included in those backups.
The website and online reader
The website uses browser storage and a preference cookie to remember choices such as language, appearance, and whether you last used the website or online reader. The reader uses browser caches and a service worker to make downloaded resources available offline. These features are not used for advertising tracking. The hosting provider necessarily processes network requests, which can include an IP address and technical request information, to serve and secure the website. Do not interpret the native app’s local reading behavior as a claim that visiting a website generates no network records.
Retention and your choices
Saved app data stays on the device until you change or remove it. Bookmarks moved to the app’s recycle bin may remain there until permanently removed. Removing the app through system settings removes its local app data; copies in your device backups are managed separately by Apple. You can clear this website’s cookies, local storage, and cached files through your browser’s site-data settings. Doing so can remove saved preferences and offline resources. Information you voluntarily send when contacting us is used to address your request.
Children
1Bible does not ask readers to create an account or submit a profile, and does not knowingly collect children’s personal information through the app.
